چکیده
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the medium-term to longer-term results of type 1 displaced capitellar fractures treated with closed reduction. DESIGN Retrospective case series. PATIENTS Eight consecutive cases (7 adults; 1 child) with type 1 capitellar fractures. INTERVENTION Closed reduction of type 1 capitellar fractures and 4 weeks of postreduction immobilization. OUTCOME MEASURES Complications (including radiographic), Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Score, and active elbow range of motion. RESULTS Average follow-up was 41.6 months (range, 18-77 months). All 8 fractures were united. The patients obtained near full return of the range of motion when compared with the uninjured contralateral side. Mean average Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Score scores were 4.36 (SD, 2.68; Range, 0-9). No complications were observed. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated that type 1 capitellar fractures can be treated successfully with closed reduction and cast immobilization. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Therapeutic Level IV. See Instructions for Authors for a complete description of levels of evidence.

Treatment of type I capitellar fractures in adolescents.
BACKGROUND Because fractures of the capitellum are rare in childhood and the young adolescent period, their treatment is still debatable and there appears to be no established treatment protocol. In the present study, we evaluated the results obtained in adolescents with type 1 capitellar fractures who were treated with open reduction and internal fixation with a 3.5 mm lag screw, directed from...
متن کاملAn unusual case of an isolated capitellar fracture of the right elbow in a child: a case report
INTRODUCTION Although elbow fractures have a high incidence in the pediatric population, fractures of the capitellum are almost exclusively observed in individuals older than 12 years of age. Due to their rarity in children, reports with large numbers of cases are lacking in the literature and the surgical treatment options are poorly defined. CASE PRESENTATION We present the case of an 11-ye...
متن کاملThe functional outcome of surgically treated unstable pelvic ring fractures by open reduction, internal fixation
Abstract Background: Unstable Pelvic fracture, a result of high energy antero-posterior compression injury, has been managed based on internal fixation and open reduction. The mode of fixation in Unstable Pelvic fracture has, however, been a subject of controversy and some authors have proposed a need to address the issue of partial breach of the pelvic ring elements in these injuries. This st...
